‘When three people walk together, there is always a teacher for me among them.’ -Confucius

The original quote actually didn’t end there.

I will follow and copy the virtuous one and will correct within myself from the unrighteous one.

三人行,必有我师焉;择其善者而从之,其不善者而改之

It says, when someone hangs out with two kinds of people, one with good conduct while the other shows the opposite, actually both of these people can serve as one’s teacher.

How…?

From the one who acts in a righteous way, we simply follow, copy and act in the way they did while from the one who acts in an evil way, we do self-reflect and see if those traits were embedded in our characters? did we do the same evil things they do? If the answer is yes, we need to correct ourselves then try and train our self to not to do these evil things again.

In that way, one learns and keeps improving them-self in order to grow to be a better man.

The point was so simple, learn and copy the wholesome traits from anyone, no matter what their skin color, no matter where they come from (now this remind me about other living beings from another planet. Interesting.) and when we saw someone with unwholesome traits, remember to look within and check our self, whether we possess the same traits and if we did, we simply correct our self to reduce or if possible, to eliminate these unwholesome traits from our self. Hence, these people become our teachers.

Super easy quote to apply in our life isn’t it…?

If we know being a liar isn’t a good trait, then don’t be one. If we know being honest is a good trait, learn and cultivate them. No excuses. Everyone has choices which are made by their own self. We are the master of our mind, it just needs training.

Lessen complaints, more understanding.

No need to be sad if they can’t grow healthier…
No joy either when they beautifully blossomed…
Without being sad nor joy,
They just grow according to the environment and weather…

How beautiful and strong are the plants…?
